We realize Band and Color Guard can be overwhelming - the schedule, the uniform, the rules, and all the little bits!  Below are some time-tested, parent-approved resources to help you and your student succeed!

Raider Band and Color Guard Google Calendar - The calendar with all rehearsals, performances, and extra events for students and parents. A MUST HAVE. Click on the link above, and then at the bottom right of the calendar you can subscribe to the calendar and have it visible on your own device.

Student Handbook (23-24) - The handbook for Band and Color Guard students that covers information about the directors, academics, responsibilities, policies and guidelines, leadership and aware criteria, as well as financial information.

Parent FAQ - A great resource for parents that covers a wide variety of questions.

What To Wear/Bring to Summer Band

  • WATER!!!
    • Bring a water jug (ALREADY FILLED) to camp and to everything we ever do as a band
    • We suggest water jugs that hold a gallon or more of water
    • A plastic water bottle (Ozarka, Aquafina) will NOT suffice AT ALL
    • Hydrate your body at least 24 hours in advance of any outdoor activity (be it for band or anything else!)
    • Consider not drinking milk before band rehearsal.
  • FOOD!!!
    • Eat a healthy breakfast, avoid drinking milk or coffee
    • Bring lunch! You’ll have at least an hour for lunch each day.
    • Also, please eat healthy! Nourishing your body correctly will help you feel at your best. Avoid fried food!!!
    • Feel free to bring a snack (fruit/granola bar) and have them outside with you and munch on them during water breaks
  • Instrument and Music
    • We will provide instrument storage lockers, locks, and music to those students who do not yet have these items
  • Comfortable clothing in which you can easily move - NO JEANS, PANTS, or DARK-COLORED SHIRTS
  • Hat - helps with sun, avoids sunburn, keeps you from squinting
  • Sunscreen
    • SPF 30 does NOT count!!! Please consider using at least SPF 50!
    • The higher the SPF, the cooler you will feel in the sun
    • Spray sunscreen -- spray them OUTSIDE, away from the door!
  • Sunglasses to protect your eyes, keeps you from squinting
  • Beach towel - to lay on when we’re doing stretching, etc.
  • Athletic Shoes - VERY IMPORTANT to avoid injury from long term stress. NO sandals, NO flip flops, NO Vans, NO boat shoes, NO shoes with poor support!

Remember, we must have a renewed physical at the beginning of every marching season.
